My prediction came true. The USA, playing an almost
completely new lineup (except for Gooch and Josh Wolff)
and against a much more familiar type of opponent,
scored two nice goals and beat Venezuela, with Everton
Goalkeeper Tim Howard preserving a clean sheet 2-0. See
video highlights in the YouTube viewer above, #2.
Saw a short spot on the team on ESPN Sports Center (37
minutes in) here in Japan, nice. Thirty thousand fans
can out to loudly support the USMNT in Cleveland. My
man Gregg Berhalter showed up after a flight from Germany
just before gametime but didn't suit up. One more minnow,
Latvia, on Tuesdayand then it's off to the Cup. No send
off visit with the President in the Rose Garden but maybe
he'll call on the phone like he did in 2002. On second
thought, nah.
